Wales Cottage Holiday

Christmas Guests leave Wonderful Feedback

Our Christmas guests had a wonderful time at Maesywerngoch.

Carl and Nicole thought the house was 'stylish, modern and clean in a traditional building, set in wonderful scenery. Your welcome basket was a touch that was really appreciated."

Our team love to decorate the sitting rooms with fresh Christmas trees from our forest.

We look forward to welcoming you to Maesywerngoch.

Machynlleth Comedy Fest 2017

The Machynlleth Comedy Festival is fast approaching and we can’t wait to explore the many acts that will be showcased in various venues dotted around the historic town of Machynlleth. This festival has gone from strength to strength since its inception eight years ago when the festival was created by the organizers as a place to get away from it all and enjoy comedy in intimate places whilst enjoying this beautiful part of Mid- Wales.

The festival, which starts on Friday April 28 and finishes with a bang on the 30th not only has stand up comedy but a wide range of acts including music, cabaret, theatre and an amazing program for children including crafts and a juggling workshop. With well over 100 acts there is bound to be something for everyone.

Machynlleth turns into the most magical town during the festival with many shops and even the school turning into very intimate ‘venues’ like the local sweet shop Losin Lush and the Rag & Bone shop. My favourite venue is the stunning 300 seat converted tabernacle housed in the Museum of Modern Art Wales (MOMA). Even though there are over 20 venues doted around the town they are all within walking distance.

I am very intrigued to try some of the food stalls that are pitching up around the town such as Mama Singh’s Curry Shack, Ele’s Little Kitchen serving Spanish tapas and paella, The Fratelli Brothers Wood fired pizza, and the Pink Pod serving my favourite ice cream from Aberdovey. And don’t forget our local restaurants such Hennigan’s Top Shop serving award winning fish and chips, The Wynnstay which will stay open all day with delicious specials and The White Lion.

If you want to enjoy your comedy out in the country then book a trip on the Machynlleth Express! Travel along mid-Wales’ first narrow gauge railway in Corris. Or fly the coop for a couple of hours for a small act at a bird hide in the spectacular RSPB reserve in Ynys-Hir. Amazing!

I know just the place to stay whilst enjoying a weekend of comedy, music and good food with a group of friends.
