"Brilliant picturesque location"
Brilliant picturesque location and fantastic communication throughout the booking. The house had everything we could have needed and was a perfect weekend getaway, we will hopefully book for another visit as soon as we can.

"What better place to stay for a big group in Wales"
What better place to stay for a big group in Wales looking for something totally different! A totally different experience to any Airbnb I’ve stayed at. Expect bumpy tracks and no neighbours for miles, set in beautiful remote forests however not too far from the beach for a lovely day out! Pleasure to stay here and Susan is on hand to respond to any queries or help you may need - would definitely stay again!

"This house really has everything and is absolutely perfect for larger groups"
The most incredible stay. This house really has everything and is absolutely perfect for larger groups. Whether you’re looking for a base for hiking which we did for our venture at Cadair Idris or just want to escape from the world for a long weekend - this is the place! From the very start, Susan’s communication was second to none and provided us with all the information we could of ever needed, from the history of the house, clear directions on how to get there (this house is completely remote and you have to follow the instructions provided by Susan very closely otherwise you will get lost!), things to do near to the house and the pubs closest to you, as well as activities available in the local areas. But you could get away with not going anywhere because the view from the back garden is simply incredible and the whole place is so tranquil that you can completely relax. A morning coffee out in the sun overlooking the forest behind is just bliss and the garden is HUGE. It just goes on and on. Perfect for us when relaxing in the sun and playing some football before having a bbq up back towards the house and sitting around the outside table. The dining room table inside was also perfect for morning breakfast and enabled us to all sit around together and was just perfect. The kitchen has everything you’ll ever need but you’ll definitely need to come prepared with plenty of food and drink as the local Co-op is about 30 minutes away and driving up and down the track multiple times is not something you want to be doing regularly. We visited here a couple of times in the end but it’s definitely best to come prepared. The house is simply incredible and just seems to go on forever and ever. There are 3 separate seating areas and we used the larger one to watch the sport and relax with some beers. Susan was amazing and even went to extra lengths to make our stay just perfect and ordered the boxing for us on the Saturday evening. The split of the living rooms would be perfect for a couple of families with children in one and parents in another or for large groups breaking off. We were even able to bring our own Xbox and set this all up for some games of FIFA. There’s even a dedicated monopoly table as well as a poker set. Plenty of books and much more. Log burners in every room to help keep nice and warm and the aga in the kitchen was a real delight! There is also an oven as well so if you’re needed to cook large meals like we did, you’re all set! There are also plenty of bathrooms with both showers and baths and the bedrooms are all incredibly spacious! Check-in and checkout process were completely Covid secure and instructions all completely clear. Plenty of antibacterial spray and hand gel all around the house too to help keep guests safe and the house safe. Also lots of cleaning stuff provided although we did bring some of our own too as a larger group including extra bin bags to help with the recycling procedure for the house. Everything about the house was just perfect and we cannot wait to come back already. Snowdonia’s Secret Stay is Snowdonia’s perfect stay!!! Thank you

"Excellently placed for walking"
Well cared for spacious converted farmhouse half way up a mountain in Snowdonia, surrounded by beautiful views over the Dyfi Valley. Excellently placed for walking - Cadar Idris is not too far away (although we didn't make it there this time) & even without a car, you can leave the house in pretty much any direction and find somewhere lovely to walk, but it's also fairly close to Machynlleth and Aberdyfi. The kids particularly enjoyed exploring the garden & had loads of space to run around even when it was raining & we all loved watching the birds. The roads leading up to the house were a bit pot holey, so I wouldn't recommend taking a low slung car, but my little VW up was fine.

"Our experience somehow exceeded expectations!"
Prior to our stay at Maesywerngoch we had high expectations due to the stunning photos and the excellent pre-visit communication we had with Susan the owner. On arrival, and throughout our stay, our experience somehow exceeded expectations. Maesywerngoch is a paradise. The spacious and stylish house offered us plenty of room for spreading out and luxurious bedrooms/bathrooms for all. The garden and grounds were exceptionally presented, huge and exciting to explore for the children and the adults, the lawn making the most beautiful setting for cricket and rounders matches. Forestry tracks surrounding the house led us on many adventures and catered for our morning jogs, leading us to many a splendid vista. A place to soak up nature and the beauty of it all. And what a view from the house - watching the changes in weather in the valley, not to mention the star-gazing and tracking the moon on its journey across the sky at night. A true sanctuary as well as an exciting place to explore for the children. The house and gardens are a credit to its owners Susan and Nicholas - and to Terry (caretaker) and his team who ensured the house was spotless for us. Susan was always on hand to answer any queries throughout and a big thanks to Terry who keeps the house and grounds at such a high standard. The children loved your wildlife stories. Many thanks again to all for making a dream holiday possible.

"I will definitely be coming back!"
We had a fabulous stay in Maesywerngoch. It’s a stunning house, beautifully appointed with lots of space, well equipped kitchen, amazing gardens, extremely comfortable beds and very soft luxurious bed linen. It’s right in the middle of the forest on the southern edge of Snowdonia with no other houses anywhere near. Very remote and nothing to hear but the birds and the bees. However Aberdovey is only a 30 minute drive away with south-west coastal path walks and amazing views of the estuary as well as perfect sandy beaches, great pubs and lots of ice cream shops! We loved our stay. I will definitely be coming back! I can’t wait.

"Fabulously remote"
Fabulously remote. You aren't quite sure you will ever find it, it is so tucked away in the middle of the woods. 2. Fabulously well equipped. It's a big house, but it has everything you might ever need....and two of most things too, like ovens and lounges! 3. Fabulous area of Wales. Great walks direct from the house and the coast is only a 15 drive away, fabulous beaches.

"Maesywerngoch is beyond magical"
Maesywerngoch is beyond magical. We have found the place we would love to return to again and again - we can’t wait for July. Utter paradise! We all adored the drive up to the house. Will and I literally felt the stress of the last few months melt away the minute we arrived. The house is beyond wonderful and we had so much space. Our eldest cheeky son adored the army tent which he built in the garden. The walks around the property were sublime. What more do you want beautiful mountains, lakes and the most spectacular beaches. Terry and Mary were absolute superstars babysitting. Above all we can’t wait to be back.
Thank you. 2020 Will & Gabby
"The owners have taken real care to abide by current Covid regulations"
With the incredibly difficult year it's been so far, our short break away was very much needed.. Upon arrival the winding driveway took us seemingly worlds away from our usual city life, revealing the huge property right at the end. There was ample parking for our 5 vehicles in the courtyard. First impressions as we entered were "Wow!" There are so many rooms, each with its own character, the AGA cooker being a lovely homely feature in the kitchen. Every room was spotless, and hand sanitizer's dotted about the house. The owners have taken real care to abide by current Covid regulations and our group felt comfortable being there, admittedly spending most our time outside enjoying the stunning views and weather. I've never stayed in a place before where no matter what direction you look, you cannot see another building, just beautiful natural forestry. We would absolutely love to come back here.

"Great family stay in idylic location"
Beautiful location, excellent gardens, spotlessly clean and well equipped what more could you ask for. Hosts kept in contact prior to booking and provided perfect instructions, only regret is not booking for longer.
"The most beautiful place"
If you are looking for a relaxing stay in luxury this house is the place for you. The pictures do not do the location & the property justice. I cannot recommend this house enough, we had 7 children with us and it was fantastic to see them enjoying their time playing, The grounds are enormous and give hours of fun. We spent the day crab fishing by the beach and had a 2 hour pony trek, we cooked most days in the house but dined out at a few places facing Abedovey Beach. The house guide is brilliant and I would recommend any places to dine that are suggested. We will definitely be returning.
Jemma, February 2018"Beautiful long house in the wilds of Snowdonia"
The location of this house was perfect for our Christmas family gathering. It is surrounded by streams, forests and mountains but only 15 minutes by car into the nearest town. Peaceful and quiet with no neighbors close by. The house lived up to all our expectations. Large, Stylish, modern and clean in a traditional building, set in wonderful scenery. The house had been beautifully decorated with 2 very large real Christmas trees. The house was stunningly furnished and very clean with plenty of towels provided for our use. Terry, the caretaker, was fantastic . A real gem who can problem solve and who has the social and communication skills to welcome all visitors. We had a slight problem with the heating which Terry fixed in no time at all. He also gave us tips on where to visit and which were the best routes to take. The gardens were huge and beautiful and we especially enjoyed watching the birds feed on the feeder at the front of the house. We and our dog also enjoyed the many varied walks around the house. The welcome hamper was a lovely touch and was really appreciated. We will definitely be coming back to Maesywerngoch.
Carl and Nicole, Christmas 2017"We felt immediately at home"
Everything you could possibly need is provided. The location is so quiet and idyllic, great for walks and mountain biking. The house is so spacious, warm and beautifully furnished. The kitchen is well stocked with everything a proper cook requires. The wood burning stoves in all the living spaces makes it so relaxing and cosy. Thank you Susan, we would love to come back!
Anne, November 2017“Wonderful, spacious, home from home surrounded by parklike gardens”
We were a party of 12 friends from Germany and England and spent our yearly summer holiday together at Maesywerngoch. We also had a dog with us and he absolutely loved the spacious house and gardens. We really enjoyed our stay at the wonderful house in a lovely location. The gardens are more like parks and you can wander off into the forest in all directions.
There are plenty of sights in the area. We went to the nice beaches at Harlech and Aberdovey. We had a nice time at Machynlleth market, went on a nice day trip to Aberystwyth, a wonderful Sunday Lunch at the Riverside Hotel and we explored the nearby footpaths in the house surroundings. Wherever we spent our days (sometimes in busy places), it always felt really nice to come back to the house and enjoy the quiet and relaxing atmosphere.
Christoph, August 2017 Germany"Luxurious remote retreat”
The house is situated up a 3 mile loggers track and you really feel like you are getting away from it all. We were celebrating a 40th birthday with a number of generations of the family and did not feel that we had to keep quiet as the nearest neighbour is miles away. The house is truly stunning and a lot of thought has gone into making the house a real treat to stay in. The kitchen is well stocked with utensils and the landscaped gardens are extensive and beautiful to walk and play in . The kids loved all the waterfalls and places to hide as did our dog!
Aberdyfi, Barmouth and mountain walking is within an easy drive from the house and there is also a fantastic restaurant in the nearby village.
Lindsey, August 2017“Perfect accommodation and location”
13 of us in total, 8 adults, 5 children and 2 dogs all to celebrate our golden wedding anniversary. What a fantastic place, brilliant location and spacious accommodation. The house itself was so well equipped with everything you needed, was spotlessly clean and great layout. The surrounding area, great for walking and we all had so much fun in the large garden with our Easter Egg Hunt. Could go on and on about this place. As for the owner Susan Harrison, she could not have been more helpful and attentive.
